ARCH CHAIR

The Arch Chair was born from the intersection of nostalgic narrative and functional design, drawing inspiration from Mediterranean architectural elements and aesthetics. Bridging past and future, it presents a minimalist structure with a strong emphasis on function, weaving together the cultural heritage of this distinctive geographic region.

At its core, the design centers on the Roman arch as a defining motif of Mediterranean architecture, with particular emphasis on the keystone. The Roman arch represented a revolutionary technological breakthrough in ancient architecture. In this context, the arch becomes part of a broader composition, integrated into the structure of a contemporary chair.

The design expresses itself through honest, clean lines and the subtly shifting proportions of maple wood that transform with the viewer's perspective. Gentle curves in the backrest, visible from front and top views, soften the structure, introducing a sense of openness and lightness. The first two editions were crafted from maple wood: one left in its natural state, the other treated with wood stain. A Mediterranean blue palette was developed from stain pigments, with the selected shade representing the deepest tone of the region's iconic landscape.
